A Thriving Arts Centre One of the most remarkable buildings in West Yorkshire and the only remaining square church in Britain, Square Chapel was designed by Thomas Bradley and built in 1772 The building has been carefully and lovingly restored over the last ten years, with many of the features found in a thriving arts centre including an attractive bar. The sensitively renovated auditorium is spectacular, its perfect acoustic one of the finest anywhere in the country. The Viaduct Theatre, Dean Clough The Viaduct Theatre has been used for chamber music concerts, operatic performances, alternative rock gigs, television programmes, conferences and even gigantic installations. Northern Broadsides is a nationally-renowned theatre company that is not only based at Dean Clough, but which uses the Viaduct Theatre as its 'home base'. The company's identity was initially created around forthright productions of Shakespeare. The Tasmin Little Music Centre, University of Bradford The Tasmin Little Music Centre (TLMC) is quickly establishing itself as one of the centres of excellence for live world music making in Bradford and the local area. Mark Robinson, the Fellow in Music, programmes both participatory music making and professional concerts around campus and in the City. From Djembe Drumming to Bollywood Beats, Choir to Qawali, it's all about live music, having fun, and bringing people together through musical participation! Phoenix Radio 96.7 FM Phoenix Radio has been established since 1998 by local people who feel that Calderdale should have it's own radio station. They have successfully broadcast six Restricted Service Licenses over the years with the help of volunteers. In 2004 the government changed the legislation and made way for a third tier of radio, community radio. Community radio stations around the country were given the opportunity to apply to Ofcom for a full-time community radio licence in November 2004, after a very long wait, Phoenix were awarded a full-time community radio licence in September 2005 which means that Calderdale has it's very own radio station for the first time in history. Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Alan Ayckbourn is the Artistic Director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre and the author of 72 plays, most of which were premiered at the SJT. More than half have subsequently been staged in the West End or at the National Theatre. They have been translated into 35 languages, are performed throughout the world and have received many national and international awards. Interludes Hotel, Scarborough A small guest house in a Grade 2 listed building in the conservation area of the Old Town, between castle and harbour. The owner/managers theatre buffs, Ian Grundy and Bob Harris, offer packages with tickets to the Stephen Joseph Theatre whose artistic director is Alan Ayckbourn (his new plays open here). Ian and Bob are big fans of all things theatrical and have stage-managed their hotel production with some style. Framed theatre production posters, dating back as far as 1847 , are on display throughout the house. Seven is an independent art space in Chapel Allerton, Leeds 7. CragRats deliver learning and communication programmes. They work with people of all ages and disciplines to create engaging learning experiences which appeal to a range of learning styles.
