CONSULTANTS & TRAINERS' PORTFOLIOS


JOHN HOLT has worked since 1984 as an Organisational Consultant and Trainer, with a wide range of organisations in the social economy and other sectors. He became freelance in 1990 after a career in the youth social work field and 7 years working for Save the Children, as a consultant, consultancy project manager and practice development & publications unit co-ordinator.

John is an NCVO Registered Consultant, member of both 'AMED' and 'ACT', a registered consultant with the Regional Arts Boards & Arts Council of England and an organisational assessor for the Regional Arts Lottery Programme. He has worked as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University Business School; Bradford University Centre for Continuing and Adult Education; Park Lane College Leeds; and occasional tutor on the Executive Development Programme at the University of Bradford Management Centre.

John is also a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Group Facilitator in independent practice. He is also an EAP registered counsellor with 'Counselling in Companies' & North Yorkshire Police. He trained in social work, humanistic psychology and hakomi psychotherapy and is a certified hakomi therapist.

BENITA COWEN is human resources consultant. Her interests centre on developing organisational & individual health and well being. Benita has professional experience within both the commercial sector & the social economy, the NHS and the education sector. She is also a counsellor & psychotherapist in primary care counselling & independent practice & a certified hakomi therapist.

ROD GIBSON is a trainer in both the social economy & commercial sector - designing, delivering and evaluating training with adults, young people and those experiencing physical, behavioural and social disadvantage. Rod is a Grade One FEFC, TSC & IIP trainer; counsellor; specialist in human communications and the UK contact for the International Society for General Semantics. Rod is currently training in developmental & organisational Transactional Analysis.

CATHY HENWOOD has a working history in multicultural settings both in the UK and Asia. Cathy's background is in adult & higher education, the social economy and development education. She is a counsellor & psychotherapist in independent practice. Her current interests centre on the 'human' factor in organisations & work with both individuals and groups.

GREG 0'SULLIVAN has a background & training experience in the social economy (long & short term mental health issues; ex offenders; homelessness; young people; community mediation; HIV & community health; rural counselling services; primary care counselling). Greg also works in adult education and as a counselling practitioner supervisor.

JENNY STACEY is involved in training & facilitation work within the social economy; specialising in drama therapy, group work & facilitation skills, coaching services, gender issues & anti discriminatory practice. Jenny is a past executive member and vice chair of the British Association for Dramatherapists. Her current interests focus on communication between people and dealing with conflict. She is a gestalt psychotherapist & counsellor in independent practice.

PHIL ELLISON is a full time Therapist working for a Community Health Trust and has extensive experience in one to one work.  He has worked for a number of years in the voluntary sector working with young people and in training with adult volunteers.  In the early nineties he was involved in setting up a youth counselling service, now in it’s tenth year of operation.  Phil is also currently involved in the professional supervision of groups and individuals.

Phil trained with the Person Centred Approach Institute GB and holds the Diploma in Person Centred Psychotherapy.  Apart from his extensive one to one work Phil has many years experience as an adult tutor working in group work settings using the Person Centred Approach.

IBRAHIM HASAN is a Principal Assistant Solicitor for a Local Authority specialising in Commercial Law, Data Protection, Human Rights and Information Security Legislation.

He is a Speaker on LGG courses in Sheffield and London (1999) and has delivered training to local authorities at Stafford, Basingstoke, Preston, London, and Manchester. He was also a Speaker at NADPO conference (Warwick Nov 2000)

A Member of Home Office working party on Freedom of Information, Ibrahim is a regular contributor to the Solicitor's Journal and has had articles published in the Local Government Chronicle, Insight (IRRV) and the Yorkshire Post.

PAUL SIMPKINS has been a lecturer in Business Studies and IT and since 1992 has worked as Data Protection Officer for two of the biggest Metropolitan Councils in the UK.

He is an Examiner for the forthcoming British Computer Society Certificate (ISEB) in Data Protection and is a member of SOCITM advisory panel on Data Protection. He has delivered training to local authorities at Stafford, Basingstoke, Nuneaton, Blaby, London, and Manchester.

Paul is a Speaker for LGG, Capita, Ethicomp 99 (Rome), NADPO Conference (Warwick Nov 2000) and is Secretary of Yorkshire Data Protection Practitioners forum.

In January of this year he attended Cabinet Office seminar in Data Sharing PIU project.

LANI RALPH

Lani Ralph has worked as a qualified therapist/counsellor and anger management specialist for the past 25 years. Originally from Hawaii she has worked in America, Hawaii, New Zealand and Britain. Recently she has focused on anger management and conflict.

Lani is a fully trained Anger Management Specialist with the British Association of Anger Management.
